Hey everyone, I have come across a really disturbing rumor. I am hoping this isn't the case and I definitely don't want to start a dust up but. Is Abby
Travis leaving? Some of the gigs with the Bangles are not posted on her website, and her answers on her messageboard are rather vague. Please say it isn't
so! Abby is/was a fine addition to the band and I would hate to see her go. Hell, I would have loved to see her completely integrated into the band as a full
member. (That's just me.) Whats the 411? Goodness I hope I'm wrong. :( MikeBangle

It's an economy drive-they're now doing without a bassist and following the example set by the White Stripes,the Kills,Blood Red Shoes etc and paring
down to that raw garage rock sound they've always claimed to want. ;) Either that or Shannon's landed the gig at last. :) They haven't thought it
through however,for with no bassist,who has the van? lol.

No longer a rumour by the looks of it, in a reply to Mickys73 on her messageboard Abby wrote "Have fun if you go to the fall shows- I'll not be
playing bass though:)". Now whether this is just for the Autumn shows or permenently who knows?

Don't tell me the curse is still around the homestead. Everytime a certain band becomes a favorite they end up dissapearing.
Keeping everything that is possible to cross for some new music from Abby. Really enjoy her music alot. Returning to the quiet and dark corner...

I don't know why Abby won't play, but i really hope this won't disturb the futur shows, and that won't force the band to cancel them !! That would be too bad, and i really don't like this perspective. 
I would be very sad to see the Australians show canceled, for them, for the fans, and also for Monique and Maryanne who will do the first part... 
Well if that is necessary, maybe Maryanne, you should think about working the Bangles set list.... Your own prestation could be longer than you would expected...

I don't know Derrick Anderson.
It will change to see a man playing the bass on stage with them, instead a woman,  but the guy
looks cool, from the pics i have found of him (if i have found the right guy...I guess he is not the one i have seen playing football.... *LOL)
I do not know about the official version, but if Abby doesn't play with the band for the fall, and they have found someone else, i am very happy about that. As long as the concerts are not cancelled that's all good. I'm well placed to know what it is to wait for a Bangles concert and see it canceled, it is not funny at all for the fans, and the Australians fans already got that once, as the French ones in 1989, i really would be sad for them if that happen again in 2008.

Meh, even if she leaves, what's the big deal? She was never a Bangle and was unlikely to contribute anything to any future Bangles music (if we ever see
any). They'll just find another stand-in. Nothing changes.
I think she's good (even if her wardrobe is a bit questionable) and she has some interesting music. She probably wants to focus on her own career, her own music... stuff that she has some creative control over. |

Also, I would guess that she would want to do more solo shows than she is able to do while touring with them.That's very true. When they hire a new musician, they have to deal with her/his own calendar, which is not always easy. Abby is probably busy with other stuff. That's exactly what i think. Abby is a guest bassist, but people put a lot of sympathy on her because she looks kind of a fourth member, and they have always seen the Bangles with 4 members. But with a guy, it will change totally the view of the band. i do not mean that it is better than Abby, but it is a nice experience to see.

Wow, the Bangles act fast. New promo shots are out already... photoshopped Bangles-style. According to rumours, the new slogan is "Join the Bangles in
2009 when we usher in.... the funky new Derrickster Era".

This is the only D. Anderson that I know of and I've seen perform. (Many times in person.) 
Derek Anderson. Starting Quarterback-Cleveland Browns. Does this mean that if Derrick Anderson gets sick, The Bangles will replace him with a Bass Player named Brady Quinn?  (Sorry! I couldn't help myself.)
Outside of Harpo, I just cannot see a male on stage playing music with The Gurls. (But that's me.)

I'm not totally surprised that Abby won't be playing next fall because she seemed quite pissed off during the recent tour like at Sheffield. It's quite common to have additional musicians being replaced and it's clear that she kind of looked like the fourth member even though she was not. I'm curious to know what's the band's connection with Derrick Anderson btw.
