Some said It really couldn't be happening; that it was just publicity. And the fabulous Bangles proved them wrong. Others said they couldn't last more
than a month or two; that nobody could hold on to that kind of fame. The Bangles, of course, proved them wrong too. Then when their first movie was released,
and even the critics liked it, people, began to wonder if all those Bangles fans hadn't really discovered something after all....
That thought wax always in my head........OUR GURLS RUUULLLLLLLLLLLLE!! :) |

^^^lol. +1!
"Patience is a virtue. Except at live shows, when brevity is better. Your riders shalt not stay fresh forever!" [looking at Risty's pix of the "Pride" show in the LIVE section...] "Clothes maketh the man. But woman is man's opposite, and so,verily, spend not your royalties on clothes. What thou hast not, thou shalt miss not!" This is fun! lol. Dave.

Here are some more Bangle commandments:
"Thou shalt pick thy Les Paul and Gretsch Tennessee Rose with pride." "Thou shalt strum thy Rickenbacker 350SH and smile to thine crowd." "Thou shalt let thine harmonies flow into positive vibes." "Thou shalt have a good time at thine concerts." VickiLover |

I thought this part interesting:-
'Their democratic vision even extends to royalties; according to Vicki, songwriting earnings are split between the writers and the Bangles' publishing company, in which all four members share equally' Hopefully this means alll girls benefitted from the intl success of Eternal Flame. Knowing this makes good sense and I have even more admiration for the girls ..... just hope they stuck to this policy in their later career |

Hopefully this means alll girls benefitted from the intl success of Eternal Flame. Knowing this makes good sense and I have even more admiration for the girls ..... just hope they stuck to this policy in their later careerOut of all the issues I've heard in the past about the Bangles. Song royalties has never been one of them. Weird how it was never asked about here at RP. Susanna's songs were more popular, radio wise. And she often co-wrote them. After knowing about the lawsuits with the Go-Go's and how they fought about this, I'm suprised at myself for not wondering. With the Go-Gos, Gina (mainly) was miffed that Charlotte and Jane were pulling in these extra checks for writing songs, she eventually demanded they share. I've always felt like that was one of several reasons why Jane Wiedlin initially left the band back in late '84. . If the statement in the article indicated right, then the Bangles found a way around it. If everyone is 100% in agreement with the situation, then more power to them. ![]() |

I guess money always gets in the way but it sounds like the Bangles always had it sorted - it seems an eminately sensible policy to me.
The Go-Go's were always more about the fame tham about the music (btw the way I love the GoGos to) so I guess it was natural fo those tensions to arise... |
