"Gracie is a harsh mistress. We quail in fear at her every utterance. She asks us to stoop and we say "how low?" Gracie has taught me the true meaning of the word 'discipline.'"- Michael Steele
Quote: Recording has gotten MUCH easier -- with the advent of digital technology, every living room can become a recording studio. Promoting a record is also easier on one hand because of the advantages of the internet -- but there are some record companies who think that it still involves a van and a buncha sweaty, smoky clubs... which may be true...

Quote: There's a definite possibility - we're stretching our boundaries beyond Silverlake up to No Cal this year, and hopefully we'll make it past the state line eventually...

Quote:Hi Paul--i did have to run out for a coupla hours, but now i'm back to try and shoot off a few more answers..of course it's now just pre-dawn your time, so i'm hoping you're not conscious yet....Yup, we did have a moment at Stonehenge many years ago (before the fence was up, back in the Druid days when you could go up and have a picnic among the stones...we actually helped upright a few before the Soltice Fertility Dances....okay, i'll stop...) and i remember that it was really reallycold! i mean, bite-ass-ohmigod cold. i think you can actually see that in the photo. The thing is, i was back there relatively recently with the Continental Drifters and it was, once again really really cold....but this time there was a barrier that kept one from getting too near the monument. Still, a magical place....

Quote:You know me--i'm always looking for a reason to get back to New Orleans. No Bangles plans as yet, but keep your ears on. There's a possibility of a Lamps show come Mardi Gras time at Carrollton....this is very new (just talking about it today) so you never know, but i'll let you know if it comes through!

Quote:i know other 5 year olds who dance to the Bangles, which makes us feel very special. Say hello to Miss Tia for me. For this record, we're writing with kids from 5-14 in mind. i'm especially interested in what happens in grade and middle school socially. It can get quite complex. This isn't intended as a lullaby baby record, but something that is a true pop record which lyrically will interest our younger fans.

Quote:Hey Jamie--You know me--i'd love to come to Argentina...i don't think i did get your photos, so now i'm gonna have to try and track those down! Yeah, it was sad about CBGB's--the Bangles never played there (i think we mostly played the Peppermint Lounge and Danceteria and the Ritz in those days...) but i did go there to see bands when i was in NYC.
here comes trouble
Quote:i'd love whatever we put out to come out in vinyl, but it's always hard to find a company who agrees that it's worth the money!

Quote:We have definitely considered doing such a performance and had one fall through at the last minute once...i don't think you'd get Miss Hoffs to SouthWest Asia, though, unfortunately. Just can't see it. i'd love to find a way to perform for the USO or other organizations that benefit our troops....we'll have to get creative!

Quote:Well, ya know...the black dress i wore in the "Egyptian" video was wardrobe, and not mine. But i did have a red one made for me in NYC, but that one was stolen after a show at Carnegie Mellon. i never got it back. So somewhere, out there--on Ebay, no doubt--is my fringed dress...

Quote:Great, we'll see you Friday. i love the comic--you are a very creative soul, and boy, do we look hot. The BB's were an idea we were tossing around back at Stately Bangle Manor in early 2002. i've always joked about the evil twin concept and it does seem to apply to most people i know. We're collaborating with Charlie Stickley, a friend and very talented cartoonist/writer/humorist, on the Bad Bangles and are hoping to launch it in February. Let us know what you think!

Quote:You are sweet, Mikey, and i do appreciate it. Gosh, i'm blushin'.....But the harsh reality is that back in The Olden Days (as it is still, i imagine) the Record Company Powers That Were made those sorts of decisions and there was not a song of mine that was "chosen" to be a single. And only singles get videos....
