the 5th Bangle
Quote:i loved making Vermilion. i don't know if i have one fave Drifters song. There is so much emotion wrapped up in that band for me, that almost every song is important. i like saying that i'm a Driters fan, too, because i'm so in awe of every member....

Quote:You too! The Lamps are finishing up some recordings right now. We'll probably release a couple of EP's early next year. i always say that the Drifters will always exist and one day we'll show up on a front porch somewhere--we'll all be seventy or something...
Quote:So good to hear from you...my hand is healing remarkably well, thank you. i've been able to play without any discomfort. About the Michael situation... it is weird for us, as you all may imagine. But she has to do what she feels is right for her, and we respect that. i really do wish her peace and happiness in her life. i'm hoping that the fans --even the ones who miss Michael the most -- won't wish the rest of us to stop making music together just because one of us has chosen not to participate. We're sooo lucky to have talented friends like Amanda and Abby who have a blast playing with us. Have a Happy Christmas!

Quote:Yee hah! Thanks
Quote:i love going to Europe!!! We don't have plans as yet, but if it were up to me, we'd be there every year....
Quote:Yay. i love it when babies Bangle! As to our harmonies: it's almost always a group thing, which is what makes it so fun. Actually, when we were doing the backing vox to "Mixed Messages" we were laughing so hard, because it was sounding dangerously close to the Carpenters... which is a good thing! But it was so different from the Continental Drifters version and it was late at night and we were all punchy and....well, i guess you had to be there.[
Quote:i hate breaking strings during a show!!!! It doesn't happen all that often to me anymore, and that could be because i've been lucky to have good guitar techs who check over my instruments and change strings often....i do tend to Bang more on songs like "In Your Room" and "Hero", but i've broken a string on "Here Right Now", so i guess there's no pattern to it....
Quote:Well, we've now taken off for the holidays, so our days are spent with family (yay), running around, playing music with other friends...We have begun plans for a new record. There are so many directions to take music and we're just starting to write...so we'll see what happens!

Quote:Hey Kramer...we're playing a private event in February in your part of the world (sorry!) and i'm looking forward to some snow. i know, i'm crazy....and yeah, Abby is awesome. Anyone who hasn't checked out her own music should!
hey, you better listen
Quote:Wow. You need to get to a Bangles show! i know, we need to come to you is more to the point, right? We'll work on that...Thanks for the kind words. i liked the idea of re-recording some Drfters songs on the last Bangles cd. It was sorta like "bridging" my two musical worlds. i wanted to take advantage of my bandmates' vocal abilities, which was what sparked the major harmonies on "Mixed"...and i wanted a chance to sing "The Rain Song", although no one does it like my sister Susan Cowsill!
Quote:Hey Katie--First off, i have to tell you that i'm loving that artwork!! My husband has been touring forever this year and i miss him!!!! Okay, when i was in high school, Debbi and Amanda and i played Heart covers at school dances. Dreadfully, i'm afraid, but we tried. i always wanted to be able to belt out a vocal like Ann, but that's not really a forte of mine...and Nancy--well, she did what i've always respected so much in female musicans: she made her gender a non-issue. She's just a wonderful musician and vocalist and that's the end of it. I've met Nancy briefly before, but have never played with her. i love to, of course. Susanna has had that pleasure....

Quote:Oh, what a sad and moving image! i'm hoping that our 2006 summer tour will bring us back to Texas...and yeah, we are working on a summer tour! See you then..
Quote:Hey Mikey, glad you were at the Adelaide show. i had soooo much fun on that tour--really enjoyed meeting people and seeing what little we were able to of the country. So beautiful, i thought. Well, i'm glad to hear of someone taking a scholarly look at "Women In Music" (a phrase that i used to joke about). It has always been such a natural thing for me to make music that i have a hard time looking at it as if it's something unusual or special, but i can see how, in a social context, it is. i'm interested in finding ways of reaching young women musicans and communicating how important it is to share our voice. Amanda and i are still at work on a book that we hope will be of interest to young female musicains....Good luck with your work!
Quote:Thanks, Chris. I does feel good to give, doesn't it? Right now i'm focusing on helping my beloved New Orleans to rebuild. i have so many friends and family members who've lost everything they have, it's truly overwhelming. i am so hopeful that the good people of the Gulf will find a way to rebuild their lives and homes, but it will take a lot of time and even more money. It's a huge undertaking, but these people are the most determined, wonderfully proud and stubborn people! If anyone can help, they should...
