the 5th Bangle
Quote:I really dig all your Doll Rev songs, especially "Song For a Good Son" which sounds as if it was inspired by one of my fave records, "Under the Milky Way" by the Church. Well...was it? er... BUSTED! Well... I had the Church in mind when I recorded it, they're one of my favorite bands...although the bass sound was more like a tiny homage to Cocteau Twins...
Quote:Thanks very much! That's very sweet of you to say.

Quote:I think the two most energetic cities I've been to are New York City andTokyo ... two really incredible cities!
Quote:real life misadventures...
Quote:Hmm...I'll have to get back to you on this one, I recently saw an spectacular Japanese film, but I can't recall the name...
Quote:Thank you so much for listening!
Going Down To Liverpool
Quote:Eventually... Doll Revolution is being released in the States next month, so it's a brand new album again... We'll let that one run its course, but we definitely have further plans!
Quote:It's a cool idea - I like the song too...perhaps it will make a reappearance...
Quote:Thank you so much for all your support!
Quote:I have several works in progress... I COULD give names....
Quote:Jamie is a boy (everybody thinks he's a girl because he's so pretty), I got him from the pound up in Northern California about 5 years ago...
Quote:Susanna, Vicki ,and Debbi have become my dysfunctional family of choice!
Quote:FIrst of all, thanks, I like the album, too! I wish I was back in the UK RIGHT NOW... ...In between European tours I spent some time in London and Edinburgh and I loved them both. I don't know when we'll be back there on tour, but I'm sure we'll be back eventually.
Quote:Not very much right now. I suffer from classic "Bachelorette Refrigerator Syndrome"...
Quote:I used the Ampeg on "Between the Two". It has a very distinctive sound
Quote:I stole it out of a book I read about mountain biking...
Quote:The EB-03 was my very first bass, I thought it was cool because Jack Bruce played one in Cream... sadly, The Great Luthier In The Sky has called them both home....but theHagstrom is still with us.
Quote:We're recording some sessions for AOL that will be semi-unplugged... (Gracie just told me that it will premeire on AOL on the 22nd, AND that I just scooped her big news story for September...
Quote:Top Cool. Thank you!
Quote:Eventually...perhaps next summer... touring is a little tricky while the kids are in school.
Quote:I's a bit esoteric for a single...but, never say 'never'!
Quote:There are always more to come!

Quote:...that's funny, I am....
Quote:After The Runaways, I concentrated on bass playing for awhile. I was always comfortable as a singer, so - lucky me - I ended up in a band where I could be both!
Quote:Wow... That's a good question. I have to think about that for a second... I've met a lot of nice people, but the person who comes to me as the most consummate gentleman that I have ever met (and worked with, briefly), was [Sir] George Martin. It seems like the more truly talented a person is, the nicer they are. There are a lot of 'posers' out there, too...but we won't tlak about them...
Quote:I started off playing folky quitar - Joni Mitchell was my hero, although to this day I have never been able to figure out how she plays the stuff she plays on guitar. She uses lots of unique tunings...
Quote:If I give one more attention than the others, they get jealous, so....
Quote:This is gonna sound weird, but I think an AC/DC or Sex Pistols cover band would be REALLY fun!...
Quote:That's actually a cool thing to think about... I wish I could get into a time machine and be in SF around 1967 -- just in time to witness the funeral procession for "The Death Of Hippie" ...
Quote:I'd better not answer that on the grounds that I may incriminate myself!...
Quote:I would have to say Mr. Reich is not an influence on me...I am fairly ignorant of his work.
Quote:Vicki is also quite a reader, heck, she was an English major in college!.. At the moment I'm reading Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, and Hells Angels by Hunter S. Thompson. the two of them seem to go well together.
Quote:I'm torn between acylics and oils -- Acrilycs dry too fast, and oils dry too slow.... kind of hard to take on the road with you!
Quote:Gene has promised me a percentage of any sales that result from wearing them onstage...
Quote:Cool! Thank you!
Quote:the Japan tour was AWESOME! What great audiences! I can't wait to go back!
Quote:I think Debbi has it - she really loves the Hello kitty stuff!
Quote:I'm attempting to embrace my silver hair, and incorporate it into the red scheme... perhaps at some point I'll turn up the volume on the red bits.
Quote:Not a whole bunch -- I'm not a collector, I like to have basses that I can actually use.
Quote:Yes, I have a Taylor acoustic bass
Quote:Not as much as I should!
Quote:Because the bass on the record is keyboard bass. Also, I enjoy having a break and just being able to sing. It's a treat.
Quote:I feel badly about that -- I'd had a cold for the entire tour, and by the time we got to Paris, I lost my voice. It was awful. I promise I'll make it up to you next time!
Quote:We secretly recorded him as I tormented him by knocking on the walls. he thought somebody was at the front door. I hope I don't have to pay him royalties.
Quote:I haven't heard that song for a long time, but I think that was just random talking that we were doing -- very R.E.M.
Quote:They made me audition twice... ...although they CLAIM they only auditioned me once. I'll never forgive them for it - RIDICULOUS!
Quote:I cry when I'm NOT writing songs....
Quote:Happy Man today -- The Song That Refuses To DIE...I'll just have to get back to you on that....
Quote:I had this problem when I was in school -- I would get really behind on my homework... luckily there's no one grading my webpage (or lack thereof)! I PROMISE to bring you a recap of spring and summer VERY SOON.
Quote:Thanks so much for everything, Sophie!

Quote:I wrote it about a friend who's no longer with us -- I guess I wrote it form his point of view because I wanted him to have a voice even though he was gone.
Quote:ou can check back to my message to Sophie about what happened in Paris - maybe it wasn't obvious to the audience, but I was tormented as I began to lose my voice. That's about as bad as it gets for me. As for the other question -- YOU'RE TRYING TO GET ME IN TROUBLE. I'm not going to answer that one.
Quote:OOOooooooohh.... I TRIED to get over to Dublin during my time off, and the time that I tried to go was when they were having the Ireland vs. England rugby championship. The travel agent warned me not to go, and said he couldn't find any hotel rooms in Dublin anyhow. Really bad timing! I am determined to make it over there soon. Thanks for posting!
Quote:ps: What's this I hear about U2 playing 'Eternal Flame' during their show? Is it true? See if you can find out for me! I'm a huge U2 fan!
Quote:I'd always wanted to work as an artist, but by the time I was halfway through high school, I realized that the commercial art world would not be a fun place to be, career-wise. I had always loved music, and at this point, I started considering a career in music instead. It seemed like there were fewer rules to have to follow. The bass guitar is kind of a sneaky instrument. Me playing bass guitar seemed very non-threatening to the teenage boys I knew who played guitars and drums... This way I was allowed access into the Rock-and-Roll treehouse. Also, early on, some friends took me to see Carol Kaye play in a little nightclub in Hollywood. She's a great bass player, she's played on tons of records with everyone who's anyone... When I saw her do it, I wanted to do it too.
Quote:When we don't play 'I'm Not Talking' for awhile, we need to practice it before we play it, or we make these amazing mistakes (at least I do...). We just didn't rehearse it enough... I'll make it up to you next time!
Quote:First of all, thanks for donating to our AIDS Walk fund, we really appreciate it, it's a great cause. To answer your second question, I will refer you to the movie "Velvet Goldmine" for any boys' Rock-and-Roll fashion tips.
Quote:No, no... thank YOU...
Quote:It's got to have some kind of quality that I call a "brain stick-er" -- something about it that makes you keep wanting to sing it over and over again...
Quote:For $100 I'll record one right now. Going back to my earlier comment about being bad with homework, there IS a solo album on deck. Let us hope that at some point in the not too distant future, it will see the light of day.
Quote:I TOTALLY agree with you, I particularly would like to hear a live version of 'Dover Beach'. We could make a great live album.
Quote:I certainly hope so. She has developed into a strong songwriter.
