Quote:Thank you -- Good morning to you!
Quote:I fully enjoyed our time in Japan. It was a blast! There was one strange moment... We all went shopping one day in a part of Tokyo with a lot of sort of Rock-and-Roll clothes stores in it. I saw this kilt that I liked very much, so I went into the store, and asked the woman working there if I could try one on (she was also the person who made the clothes)... I will never forget her response."These clothes are not for girls! They are for musicians !!! " I had to twist her arm for her to let me try her kilt on. Meanwhile, our tour manager Maria tried to explain to her that "Michael is a well known musician, yes, even in Japan". The shopkeeper looked very confused, but still let me buy one of her kilts.I would expect this attitude form some guys, but it was a shock coming from a woman!
Quote:Good things come to those who wait.
Quote:I am still learning....
Quote:I've only done it once, in London in 2001. It was a bit nerve-wracking. I need to be a little bit more brave and try to play it more often.
Quote:We arm wrestle... we play Spin The Bottle... No, really, generally speaking, the people who wrote the song work out amongst themselves who's going to sing lead or if it's going to be a duet or whatever, as in the case of 'Stealing Roemary', which is Vicki and Debbi.
Quote:Thank you SO much OC girl!

Quote:That's kind of an impossible question because he wrote so many amazing songs, but I would say it's a toss-up between 'Caroline, No' and 'Surf's Up'. Those two songs give me chills.
Quote:Good question! There are some who want us to stay an 80's band, because they feel sentimental about us -- and I don't judge them for that, I just want the new music to have a chance of being heard. I think the new music fits in well -or is a logical extension - of the music we made in the 80's.
Quote:I know, we've never played in Vancouver - what is the deal? I've heard it's one of the most gorgeous cities in the world. We are hoping to do some serious touring next summer. I can't make any promises, but if it were up to me, we would go EVERYWHERE.
Quote:'What did you think of my performance in 'Pirates of the Carribean'?"
Quote:No, seriously... I really enjoy the questions about the music. It makes me feel good to know that other people think music is as important as I do.
Quote:It doesn't surprise me that my hair can multi-task. Thanks for your support!
here comes trouble
Quote:How very kind of you - thanks for posting!
Quote:Sophie is very nice that way!
Quote:I've been listening to Elliot Smith a lot just lately... I'm also enjoying the "Bend It Like Beckham" soundtrack, there's some great stuff on there.
Quote:I just saw a really interesting documentary about Hunter S. Thompson, which made me go off and find a copy of "Hell's Angels", which I'm reading right now. Movies are really important to me, even though I'm not really in the "Hollywood loop" here in L.A. I must admit, on the level of a guilty pleasure, "Pirates of the Carribean", though not an indie by ANY means, was thoroughly entertaining - thanks in large part to our Mr. Depp. Speaking of him, one of my favorite movies of all time is "Dead Man" by Jim Jarmusch. I watched the DVD by myself one night in my darkened living room, and I swear that film gave me a contact high. It's just beautiful.
Going Down To Liverpool
Quote:I remember that show, because as we were driving into Quebec City, the van slipped in the ice, and we ended up in a ditch! We had to be towed to safety. Our tour manager was a Californian, and so had little or no expeience driving in icy conditions!
Quote:You can refer to an earlier post where I talk about SFAGS...After I went to my friend's wake, I woke up a few nights later and the words "tell me who will sing a song for me?" popped into my head. It kind of spooked me into writing the song. The musical part of the song came from a dream I had - in the dream there was a ghetto-blaster playing a bad Jimi Hendrix-style song - but it was a song that I'd never heard before. As I woke up, I realized that it was a new song trying to come out... so I sort of de-Hedrix-ized it, and that's where the melody and chord structure came from. Pretty weird, isn't it?
Quote:I have no idea how to answer that...
Quote:All animals are so great, but one of my favourites is the Manatee (or dugong).
Quote:I just love them because they are so big and gentle and unique. Here's a neat animal fact -- the largest animal that ever lived is the Blue Whale, and the females are larger than the males, so the largest being that's ever lived on this earth is a female - she was 97 feet long! pretty cool, huh?
Quote:My mom bought me a Gibson Dreadnought-style guitar when I was around 13 or 14 years old. I named it Tin Angel, after a Joni Mitchell song.My brother somehow ended up with it -- many years later after I'd been off in the Bangles, doing my thing, I finally asked him if I could have it back... At that point he had to inform me that it had been stolen. So, the moral of this story is; Never let your brother borrow your guitar.
Quote:Perhaps Gracie has the answer to THAT question....
Quote:Life with the Bangles has its good days and its so-so days, it's kind of like any other quasi-family unit. We all know each other so well by now that it really is like a family, and as everybody out there has families, you know what I'm talking about! On the whole, I'd have to say being in the Bangles has been a pretty amazing experience! Maybe I'll write about it when I'm old and grey...
Quote:The show at the Melkweg was one of my very favorites of the European tour -- the place was so packed people were hanging from the rafters almost, and the audience response was GREAT. I really enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere in Amsterdam, and I wish we could have spent more time there. I did wonder, however, how many people had ridden their bicycles into the canals by mistake while "under the influence"... I asked this fellow who was interviewing us, and he said that indeed, every once in awhile they dredge the canals and they come up with hundreds of bicycles! Makes sense to me!
Quote:If you love music TOO much, which means you just HAVE to do it no matter how crazy it seems... that kind of enthusiasm might be a very good start! Enthusiasm is a rare commodity, so if it's your heart's desire, I say go for it ! See where it takes you, and HAVE FUN!

Quote:It's kind of a weird thing to say, I guess, since I'm a musician, but I'd do almost anything to be in a Wim Wenders film... I can't act to save my life (not that I've been in anything since grade school)... I know you're asking me about musical people, but I just think his films are so wonderful. It's like a little dream I have.... Don't tell anybody.
Quote: Define "work"... (see: 'Pirates of The Carribean' )
Quote:Cool, thank you very much!
Quote:Let's see - it was sometime was last week...KIDDING Actually, there was this moment after I'd been unceremoniously flung out of the Runaways -- that was such an unpleasant experience on so many levels that I decided I didn't want to do this stupid music thing any more. I was going to go out and get a job just like every other normal person out there, and that would be the end of it. Somehow however, Fate had different plans for me when the only job I could get was in a record store. One day a few months later, there on the newsstand was The Runaways on the cover of 'Crawdaddy' magazine with their new lineup. And it made me SO angry that I said, "you know what, I'm gonna show these (expletives deleted) that I'm not finished yet. I'm gonna go try this again." And soon after that I started playing in bands again and making my way through. And I've lived to tell the tale...
Quote:I like U2, Queens of the Stone Age, Elliot Smith , I like some of that new Audioslave stuff... I like some White Stripes, and for some reason, i've been listening to Paul Revere and the Raiders' greatest hits a lot lately. Also the band Spirit (going into nostalgic mode now). I also enjoy the Posies -- very melodic.
Quote:The first time, or the second time? Actually, Vicki admitted to a secret fantasy of wanting me to be in the band, and I had a secret fantasy of wanting to be in the band with her . We ended up being roomates in the same house, and a year later, I was in the band. Mysterious forces were at work.....
Quote:...oh my god....
Quote: Gracie would like to add her - and says to mention that it's Crash Wisdom, not Crash Worship... and that Mr. Condello has shuffled off this mortal coil, so unless you're a psychic medium (in which case Swami Varda sez wuddup)... OK, back to my answer...First of all, Mike Condello was a lovely man and I miss him very much. We had some disagreements that we never quite worked through but he'll always have a special place in my heart. The only problem with your question is that I know you want to remember all the bands I've been in... but I want to forget most of the bands I've been in...I will give you another name to add to your list however, just because I'm so nice.(the legendary) Bird Mountain Larry

Quote:Thanks rain girl!
Quote:Somehow I find that difficult to imagine...
Quote:I wouldn't sell my paintings, i am a confirmed amatuer. But I heard that Buddy Ebsen's done some pretty hot American Primitve style paintings...
Quote:It's against the law in the U.S., but I'd love to take him to Paris with me where we can have a nice, romantic candlelight dinner.
Quote:Not really, but I wish them well.
Quote:see: "Pitates of the Carribean"
Quote:thanks, I'm having fun!
Quote:When I was a little girl I played violin, and I played it very badly, and I soon packed it in.
Quote:Thank you very much!
Quote:I don't know how much longer I'll be able to avoid doing a solo album, but we'll see....
Quote:It would be cool to try to work the song up, maybe in a semi-acoustic fashion. That would be kind of neat. As I posted earlier, the song is about an old acquaintance of mine who is no longer with us.
Quote:We did, and I guarantee they will be on the next album. We had fun writing together.
Quote:Sometimes at night I lie awake and wonder the same thing myself... With the release of DR in the U.S. next month, we're looking forward to a more coherent future.
Quote:I wouldn't want to be respected TOO much -- it doesn't sound like much fun. If I can't have them both, I would much rather be loved than respected.
Quote:It is flattering, which is very weird.
Quote:It's hard to remember how I was feeling at the time. My Mother had passed away the month before and I was sort of in a daze.
Quote:Was I? Some of the clubs we played were kind of funky, but the fans were GREAT. Quote:No question, just a comment. I'm soooo sorry your Return Post birthday cards didn't arrive in time, i hope you are not too disappointed. And i'm glad that you don't hold back your political views. That shows courage. PS: When you did that interview with Liz Kershew this year you said that all the Bangles look better than in the 80's with the exception of you. Don't be silly! You are a true beauty, more shining than ever before. Yours Hajo / Gunsmith Cat Quote:Awwwww. G

Quote:I don't know, man, this is all getting too heavy for me. Heck, it's only rock-n-roll! Actually, to answer your question - I don't know - I guess we'll have to wait and find out if we have a legacy or not!
Quote:I have no idea...
Quote:We're hoping to tour fairly extensively next summer, so we'll hope for the best.
Quote:I haven't seen it!
